A call came in at 2000hr about a couple whose car was submerged in a wash 17 miles down Bloody Basin Rd. By 2130hrs the Posse met up with the deputy at Bloody Basin Rd and Interstate 17 to get the details. We were informed that it was an elderly couple from Phoenix whose car was washed away in a flash flood. They were OK, but needed transportation out. Three jeep teams started the long drive down the dirt road to their last known location. Recent rains made the road very muddy and slippery. After an hour and a half drive, the teams finally made it to the couple. They were tired but in good health. After a quick assessment they were cleared to get in the vehicles for the long return trip back to Cordes Lakes where their family was waiting. All jeep teams made it safely back home. It was a long night, to close a long weekend, but seeing the relief on the couple’s face made it well worth it.
